CutSizeGenie is a Shopify app for fashion and apparel e-commerce brands that unlocks revenue from out-of-stock sizes using virtual inventory and size mapping. It improves size availability on Shopify product pages without theme edits.

Safety-first virtual inventory (built for real operations)

CutSizeGenie is designed to improve size availability without creating operational chaos. Virtual inventory is only enabled when it’s safe, controlled, and aligned to your fulfilment reality.

We don’t “create” inventory — we manage controlled sharing.

CutSizeGenie works only in scenarios where your business can fulfil a neighbouring size using alterations/cut-size. The app does not magically manufacture stock. It helps Shopify reflect your real operational capability in a controlled and auditable way.

Built-in safety controls

1) Safety Threshold (protect source size)
You define a minimum inventory level for the source size. If the source size falls below the threshold, the app stops sharing stock automatically.
2) Max Share Cap (prevent aggressive allocation)
You cap how many units can be made available virtually for a mapping. This prevents a sudden spike from draining the source size too fast.
3) Scoping rules (where it’s allowed)
Enable mapping only for eligible products/collections/categories. Exclude complex styles or any item where alterations are not feasible.
4) Location-aware behavior
If you have multiple Shopify locations, you can decide where virtual inventory should apply (e.g., DC only) so fulfilment remains practical.
5) Audit logs (ops clarity)
Virtual pushes and virtual orders are logged. Teams can track what was shared, what was consumed, and which source size was used.
6) Easy pause / disable
You can disable a mapping, pause rules, or uninstall the app. When off, inventory behavior returns to standard Shopify behavior.

What these guardrails protect you from

  • Overselling risk due to sudden demand spikes on a single style/size
  • Ops overload when alteration capacity is limited
  • Source size depletion which can cause fulfilment imbalance
  • Confusion in picking (source size selection stays deterministic and logged)
  • Bad customer experience from delayed dispatch caused by uncontrolled virtual allocations

Where CutSizeGenie is safe to use

Best fit categories
Fashion & apparel where tailoring/cut-size workflows are normal: ethnicwear, occasionwear, gowns, kurtis, kidswear, uniforms and similar categories.
Not recommended categories
Categories where substitution/alteration is not allowed or unsafe: food, pharma, perishables, regulated goods, and items with strict compliance constraints.
The merchant is always in control of enabling/disabling mappings and deciding where their operations allow this workflow.

Start conservative, then expand

  1. Pilot on a small set of high-intent SKUs.
  2. Enable 1–2 mappings (e.g., S → M, L → XL) first.
  3. Set higher thresholds + lower caps during week 1.
  4. Review virtual orders + exceptions daily for 7 days.
  5. Expand to more collections once ops confidence is high.
